Countdown Boosts: Liverpool get the latest enhancements

Published:

If Jurgen Klopp can lead Liverpool to two cup finals having taken the job mid-season, one can only wonder what the German will achieve now he has got his feet firmly under the desk at Anfield.

The former Dortmund man replaced Brendan Rodgers in October, taking the Reds to a League Cup and Europa League final.

Though they lost both, Liverpool ended the year strongly, losing just three of their final 16 Premier League games.

And after spending big on Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum, plus solid signings in Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip, Klopp has been busy making improvements to a squad already boasting the talents of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho.

So in the latest of our Premier League Countdown Boosts, we’re offering four enhancements on the Reds which we reckon you should give major consideration too…

08:00-12:00: Liverpool to finish above Manchester United was 7/2, NOW 9/2

Even if they don’t win a trophy, finishing above their fierce rivals along the M62 would make Klopp a hero on the Kop.

United are rebuilding under Jose Mourinho, but that could take time to gel, as Klopp homes in on one year at Anfield.

12:00-15:00: Liverpool to beat Everton both Home and Away was 7/2, NOW 5/1

Everton will doubtless be stronger under Ronald Koeman this term, but the Red half have dominated the Merseyside derby, with Liverpool unbeaten since 2011.

15:00-18:00: Liverpool to score 75 or more Premier League goals was 6/1, NOW 8/1

They may have only scored 63 goals last term, but 42 of those came in the second half of the year, as Klopp’s impact really began to shine through

With Mane on board and hopefully a fit Sturridge, Liverpool should be well on course to smash the 75 goal barrier this season.

18:00-22:00: Liverpool to finish in the Top 4 was 6/4, NOW 2/1

The Reds have managed this just once in the last seven seasons, but with no Europa League to contend with, Klopp can focus all his resources on a tilt to the top four, unlike many of their rivals.
