Football fan wins £12k from £2 20-team worldwide accumulator

Published:

A football fan from Bolton landed a £12,000 Bank Holiday windfall from just £2 after nailing a 20-leg global accumulator.

The bet is also the first 20-leg football accumulator we’ve had to pay out on this season with the decisive goal coming in injury time in Portugal thanks to Rio Ave defender Rafa Soares.

It was only Soares’ second career goal in the top-flight and one that proved to be extremely lucrative for our plucky punter.

The mobile wager included teams from England, Spain, Belgium, the USA, the Netherlands, Portugal, Brazil, Sweden, Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Greece, Russia and Argentina, with odds ranging from 1/33 to 10/11.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “We take our hat off to our man as he becomes the first football fan to land a monster 20-leg acca this season. It’s no mean feat picking that many winners across the world on the same day.”

He added: “With results around the globe going his way the hero of the day came in the most unlikely shape of an on-loan defender at a mid-table Portuguese side. We’re sure plenty of people in Bolton are raising a glass to Rafa Soares this Bank Holiday weekend.”
