West Ham v Bournemouth: 1-1 likely based on Man City and Arsenal

If previous outcomes this century are anything to go by, West Ham will not be victorious in their first Premier League outing at the Olympic Stadium against Bournemouth.

The Hammers will be the fourth team since 2000 to be in the Premier League when moving into a new ground and none of the previous trio triumphed in their top-flight debut in front of their own supporters.

Southampton were beaten 2-0 when Chelsea were the first league visitors to St Mary’s in 2002, the following year Portsmouth left the City of Manchester Stadium with a 1-1 draw and then in 2006 Aston Villa secured the same result at the Emirates against Arsenal.

For those expecting this streak to continue, Bournemouth and the draw can be backed at 17/20 in the double chance market.

And their chances of doing so must be boosted by a raft of Hammers injuries in the creative midfield positions. Dimitri Payet is doubtful, while Manuel Lanzini, Sofiane Feghouli and Andre Ayew are definitely out.

West Ham are 1/1 to pick up the three points despite their lack of options in the forward positions and since losing to Bournemouth at Upton Park in August last season, Slaven Bilic has only been defeated at home once in the Premier League.

This fixture shared seven goals last term, but based on performances on the opening gameweek of this campaign, such a high-scoring thriller is off the cards.

Only three clubs registered fewer goal attempts than the Cherries in the first round of matches, with one of these being the Hammers. They mustered just 16 opportunities between them, which was a tally that Swansea, Leicester and Southampton bettered on their own.

Under 2.5 goals is available at 10/11 here, while a 1-1 draw to repeat events at the City of Manchester and the Emirates is priced at 11/2.
