Europe 5/1 to produce another last-ditch Ryder Cup comeback

Published:

Europe are 5/1 to produce another stunning Sunday comeback at the Ryder Cup, according to our golf traders.

Darren Clarke’s men are 15/8 outsiders for this weekend’s contest at Hazeltine, but plenty of interest has been staked on a Medinah-esque fightback.

It’s 7/1 that the European contingent lead from day one, while 50s says the USA repeat their Medinah meltdown and throw away a four-point lead on Sunday.

And fresh from his FedEx Cup victory last weekend, Rory McIlroy is 7/2 to be top European point scorer, with the bookies going 100/1 on the Northern Irishman carding a hole-in-one.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “There are so many plotlines to follow this weekend, and though Europe may be the outsiders, they’ve shown in the past that they can never be discounted.”

USA are 4/7 favourites, while 11/1 says the Ryder Cup is tied for the first time since 1989.

5/1 says anyone sinks a hole-in-one in Chaska, Minnestoa, while it’s 100s that Europe go on to dominate and win each of the next five Ryder Cups.
