Chelsea ace odds-on for shock loan exit in January window

Published:

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is set to make his most divisive move yet in the transfer market, with the Italian odds-on to ship midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas out of Stamford Bridge in January.

The Spaniard has only played 87 minutes of Premier League football this campaign, with his solitary start coming in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.

And with the Blues’ boss boasting a ton of impressive options in midfield, the bookies reckon his Chelsea days are numbered.

It’s now just 4/6 for Fabregas to be loaned out this winter, with 7/2 for a permanent exit from west London – while the bookies have priced a departure by the end of next summer at 1/2.

Familiar faces are the favourites for his destination, with Manchester United leading the betting at 6/1 to snap up Fabregas by next summer, while a shock return to Arsenal is priced at 8s.

However, a Camp Nou comeback has been all but ruled out by the bookies, who make it 16/1 that the 29-year-old returns to Barcelona.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Someone is set for a World Cup-winning bargain in the January sales, but will it be Mourinho, Wenger or a dark horse who secures the Spaniard’s signature?”

Next up for the Blues is the visit of Everton, with 8/15 for Conte’s men to taste victory.

Another omission from the starting line-up for Fabregas, though, and that 4/6 could be slashed again.
