Liverpool emerge as 7/4 shots to snatch Draxler from Arsenal

It seems certain that Julian Draxler will leave Wolfsburg next month, but while it had previously been viewed as a two-horse race between Arsenal and PSG, the Gunners must now contend with Liverpool.

Reports in the press believe Reds boss Jurgen Klopp wants to sign the 23-year-old to boost his midfield options in the second half of the season.

And the bookies reckon it could happen, with Liverpool 7/4 to sign the attacking midfielder.

That puts them second in the betting behind French giants PSG at 6/4.

But it’s bad news for Arsenal, who are now the 7/2 outsiders to sign the Germany international.

Draxler shone last term with six goals and six assists from 24 Bundesliga games, and after a slow start this term had produced two assists in his last two appearances.

Liverpool have been one of the stars of the Premier League season so far, but the link with Draxler suggests Klopp may be concerned about fatigue later in the campaign.

And having lost their last two fixtures, Arsenal could use a mid-season boost too, although Arsene Wenger may see how the return of Danny Welbeck goes before fully considering a bid for the Wolfsburg star.

Comments coming out of the German club have all but confirmed Draxler will leave, and he represents one of the best players available in January.

The question is however, who will win his signature?

Arsenal are in Boxing Day action next week, with the Gunners 1/3 to defeat West Brom at the Emirates, while Liverpool are 2/7 favourites to down Stoke on the following day.
