Dundee frontrunners in race to reunite with former fan favourite

One of the heroes of Dundee’s 2013-14 promotion campaign could be set to head back to Dens Park this summer…in the form of keeper Kyle Letheren.
The 29-year-old spent last season on the books of York City, but despite producing a number of solid displays for the Minstermen, the club suffered a second successive relegation, dropping out of the National League.
City’s struggles have led to the talented goalie letting his contract wind down, with the player now out of contract. And despite reported interest from now-Non-League Hartlepool United, it’s believed the Llanelli-born stopper is keen on a return to Dundee.
Letheren played 57 times for the Dark Blues between 2013 and 2015, chalking up an incredible 19 clean sheets in 35 games in the Championship during his first season, helping the Tayside club secure the league title on the final day.
And having impressed in the top flight during the following season, there’s no question over his ability to handle the quality of striker he’ll face in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
With current Dundee stopper David Mitchell having agreed a move to Falkirk next month, there’s little doubt Letheren will get some game time if he heads to the North-East of Scotland once again.
The question is, would he displace Scott Bain and reclaim the role of first-choice keeper he previously enjoyed at the club?
