New Watford boss Marco Silva has spent the summer strengthening his midfield ranks with a trio of new additions, with Will Hughes and Nathaniel Chalobah complemented by a permanent deal for former loanee Tom Cleverley.

And another man in the middle could be set to join the Hornets revolution, in the form of talented Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

The 21-year-old is just 11/10 to join the Hornets this summer, though a loan move looks more likely than a permanent switch, with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho unlikely to sell on a player of the Dutchman’s calibre.

He chalked up 11 appearances for United last term, with the North-West Giants winning 10 of those. However, with only four starts amongst those outings, the former Ajax youngster is now keen to get more regular first-team experience.

For Watford’s part, they’re in need of a holding midfielder right now, with Nathaniel Chalobah and Valon Behrami both out with long-term injuries.

And despite his young years, Fosu-Mensah has big-game experience, having starred in an FA Cup Semi-Final triumph and featured in two Manchester derbies – and though a natural defensive midfielder, he’s also just as comfortable at right-back.

Talking of Manchester derbies, Watford are also in the running for a former Manchester City star in the form of Bacary Sagna.

They’re third in the running behind Crystal Palace and Southampton for the out-of-contract defender, but at 8/1 our traders aren’t ruling out a move to Vicarage Road just yet.

Watford kick off their Premier League campaign by hosting Liverpool, with 9/2 on offer for Silva’s men to take all three points.
