Bradford City 7/2 for promotion from League One this season

Bradford City

Bradford City looked irresistible at the weekend.

The Bantams produced a dominant performance to see off Bristol Rovers 3-1 at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

And we like their odds of promotion to the Championship.

Our traders go 7/2 that City make the step up to the second tier for the first time since 2004.

Here’s why we think Stuart McCall’s side are a worthy shout…

Home form

The Northern Commercials Stadium – or Valley Parade as it is better known – is a fortress.

Prior to last month’s defeat to Blackburn Rovers the Bantams had gone 31 regular league home games without defeat.

Although a 1-0 loss to Rovers ended that run they’ve already bounced back in style.

Last Saturday saw McCall lead City to a comfortable 3-1 victory over a dangerous Bristol Rovers side.

And with two of their hardest tests on home soil already behind them – Blackburn and Blackpool – you’d expect the Bantams to go on the march once more.

Goals

Bradford have goals running through the side.

They’ve scored nine in five already this season including six in their last two games.

What’s more they’ve got two fiercely dangerous strikers.

Charlie Wyke hit a hat-trick at the weekend while Dominic Poleon has netted vital goals against Walsall and Gillingham.

Poleon was signed from Wimbledon in the summer where he hit 13 goals last season.

The striking duo are aged 23 and 24 respectively and compliment each other extremely well up top.

With Omari Patrick, Shay McCartan and Nicky Law also providing ample foil the Yorkshire club appear well stocked in the forward department.

They’ve got the experience

Experience counts for a lot in League One.

Just ask Brentford and Millwall.

The pair both missed out in play-off finals in recent years before going on to gain promotion the following season.

Stuart McCall’s Bantams missed out in last year’s final and now have that crucial, if painful experience of falling at the final hurdle.

In what is a difficult league to get out of it could just give them the extra edge they need this season.
