Manchester United are considering a £30m bid for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thomas Meunier, according to reports.

Dani Alves’ arrival at Parc des Princes has pushed the right-back down the pecking order this season.

With a World Cup on the horizon, Meunier is understood to be contemplating a move in order to secure his place in the Belgium squad.

The 26-year-old has impressed when he has played for PSG this season. He’s scored three goals in six league appearances, including both strikes in the 2-1 win over Dijon.

He’d have to compete with Antonio Valencia for the right-back spot at United.

Valencia has been very consistent on the right side of defence for United. But at 32-years-old, Jose Mourinho may be in the market for a long-term replacement.

Meunier’s defensive ability and attacking thrust could make him an ideal target.

United beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 last weekend to stay second in the table. They’re five points behind league-leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho’s side host Benfica on Tuesday evening. A 1/3 home win would almost certainly seal their place in the Champions League knockout stages.
