Stoke 15/8 for relegation under Lambert; Swansea favs for drop

Stoke City transfer news

Despite the appointment of Paul Lambert, Stoke City are still among the favourites to be relegated this season.

The Potters’ odds have been unchanged by the Scot’s appointment, with our trading team making it 15/8 for the club’s 10-year stint in the Premier League to end.

Swansea City are the only side odds-on for the drop, with odds of 2/9 for the South Wales club to spend next season in the Championship.

However, Stoke fans could take some solace by the fact three other sides are ahead of them in the relegation betting.

West Bromwich Albion won their first Prem game in 21 attempts on Saturday, but they’re just 11/10 for the drop. Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town and Brighton & Hove Albion are both 7/4 to go down after a solitary top-flight season.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Lambert’s appointment has come as somewhat of a surprise, but it’s not exciting enough to help Stoke’s relegation odds.”

However, the Potters could boost their survival hopes against Huddersfield this weekend. Stoke to win on home turf is an even-money shot.
