World Matchplay Day 7 Tips: Blackpool joy for Suljovic and Wright?

After Gary Anderson’s nine-darting excellence last night, attention this evening turns to the two remaining World Matchplay quarter-finals.
PDC stalwarts Simon Whitlock and Peter Wright lock horns in the opening game of the night.
Then, Mensur Suljovic takes on Darren Webster, with both players bidding to make it to the semi-final stage in Blackpool for the very first time.
We’ve tipped up both tungsten tussles below…
Peter Wright v Simon Whitlock (7:15pm)
In the absence of Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross, these two will have their eyes firmly on the prize at the Winter Gardens.
Both know what it takes to win a PDC Major. But it’s Peter Wright who is the 3/10 favourite to advance through this evening against 5/2 for Simon Whitlock.
And it’s easy to see why. The Scotsman produced a performance close to his best against Kim Huybrechts on Wednesday, eventually clocking a 105.6 average and 50% on his doubles.
Snakebite finally looks back to his old self and is 10/3 to win through as King of the Oche against an opponent whose vital stats just don’t match up.
Although both players are capable of heavy scoring, neither has lit up the T20 bed just yet. Combined the pair have hit just 13 maximums in the competition.
It’s 10/11 for there to be Under 14.5 180s tonight. Finishing is a strong suit for both and it’s 4/7 for there to be Four or More 100+ checkouts in the match.
Mensur Suljovic v Darren Webster (8:45pm)
Could a date with darting destiny await Mensur Suljovic? The Austrian arrowsmith shaped best going into this tournament and has since dispatched Steve Beaton and Ian White in Blackpool.
The Gentle been installed as the 6/1 joint-third favourite to win the competition after those performances, but he’ll need to see off Darren Webster first.
The Demolition Man shocked the darting world in the last round by beating reigning world champion Rob Cross 11-8. It’s impossible to underestimate that result.
But punters should note that Cross missed 21 darts at double in his defeat, allowing Webster to capitalise and eventually win through. We don’t think Suljovic will be quite as accommodating.
And with the Norfolk-thrower recording a tournament highest checkout of just 80, we go 9/4 for Suljovic to win through as King of the Oche. He’s 4/11 to advance outright.
The first-to-16-leg match is 10/11 to produce Over 27.5 Legs, while the Austrian is also 6/5 on the -1.5 180 Handicap.
