EFL Weekend Tips: Blackpool, Peterborough and Swindon feature

Published:

With the top two tiers on hiatus during the international break, all eyes turn to Leagues One and Two.

Ahead of a full programme of games, we’ve scoured the form-book to bring you five top tips on the weekend’s action…

Blackpool to beat Bradford City @ 10/11

The Tangerines are eyeing up a fifth straight league game unbeaten. They’ve conceded just once in the last four matches, and should be too strong for a struggling Bantams side.

City have lost four of their last five matches, including a home defeat to Wycombe Wanderers.

Bradford also have a poor record at Bloomfield Road. Blackpool won the last meeting here 5-0 in April 2018, and should dominate at home once again.

Peterborough United to beat Southend United @ 9/5

Steve Evans’ Posh are sitting top of League One after six games. That’s largely thanks to a terrific away record which has seen them win all three matches on the road, scoring 10 and conceding just two.

They arrive at Roots Hall this weekend with striker Jason Cummings in breathtaking form. The Scot already has six goals this term and should prove too hot to handle for a patchy Shrimpers defence.

Barnsley v Walsall: Both Teams to Score @ 19/20

Goals are likely to be the order of the day in this Oakwell showdown.

Both sides are already in double figures for the season. And each boast a barrel-load of attacking talent. That includes Tykes’ hitman Keifer Moore, who has scored six in his last three outings.

With May’s meeting between the pair also seeing four goals shared out, it’s hard to see past BTTS in this top-six showdown.

Swindon Town to beat Morecambe @ 11/8

As it stands, Jim Bentley’s Shrimps have the unwanted record of the worst goal difference (-11) in all four divisions. And they’ve also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and EFL Trophy.

Morecambe host a Swindon side who are unbeaten in their last four games, netting eight goals in the process.

The pair have met five times in total, with Swindon winning four times – all of them to nil – and drawing once. This Morecambe side should cause them few problems.

Lincoln City -1 (v. Crawley Town) @ 17/10

Danny Cowley’s upwardly-mobile Imps are many people’s tip for promotion this season. They’ve started with 16 points from six games, and host a Crawley Side who cannot keep a clean sheet.

The Red Devils have kept just one clean sheet in 21 games. That means the hosts, who have John Akinde and Matt Green up front, could run riot.

With four of Lincoln’s last five wins coming by a margin of two or more goals, they could come good on the -1 handicap once again.
