Oxford v Coventry Tips: Can Holmes inflict more Sky Blues woe?

Kassam Stadium

Two sides at the wrong end of the League One table meet at the Kassam Stadium this afternoon, as Oxford United host Coventry City.

Both teams have one win apiece from their opening six matches. But who will come out on top in front of the Sky Sports Football cameras at 12pm?

We’ve previewed the match below.

Match Odds

Oxford are 29/20 to record a fifth home win in a row over Coventry dating back to 1986.

The Sky Blues are without a win in four away matches so far this term. They’ve only registered a single goal in that run, too.

You can back them at 9/5 to get a full haul of points, with a first ever draw between the pair priced at 9/4.

Alternatively, the U’s to Win to Nil is 16/5.

Talking Tactics

Karl Robinson employed a 4-2-3-1 formation away at Sunderland last week and should stick with it this afternoon.

The midfield combination of Shandon Baptiste and Cameron Brannagan, in particular, could be key to the outcome of the game.

Brannagan looks assured on the ball and has an eye for a pass, while youngster Baptiste drew comparisons with N’Golo Kante with his performance against the Black Cats.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins is primed to make changes to his side after defeat to Rochdale last week.

Abu Ogogo, Conor Chaplin and Tony Andreu could all return as the visitors look to add steeliness in the midfield and incisiveness going forward.

Goalscorer Odds

Jonathan Obika has yet to find the net this term but is the 19/10 favourite to Score Anytime – a price he shares with Sam Smith (not that one).

Fellow forward Ricky Holmes is slightly longer at 16/5 but has bagged in each of his last three appearances.

Cov have only found the net three times in six matches in League One so far this season.

Jonson Clarke-Harris is their likeliest chance at 11/5, according to our traders. Midfielder Michael Doyle could be an interesting outside option at 5/1.
