La Liga Preview: Can Real Madrid turn it around against Betis?

We’re almost at the halfway stage of the La Liga season and there’s plenty to play for this weekend.

Barcelona took a big step towards the title last weekend. They’ll want to keep up the momentum against Eibar.

Atletico Madrid are five points behind in second. They can’t afford to drop points at home to Levante.

We’ve previewed the pick of the action in Spain, starting with Real Madrid’s trip to Real Betis…

Real Betis v Real Madrid

The honeymoon period is well and truly over for Santiago Solari at Madrid. His side returned from the Club World Cup with a draw against Villarreal, which was followed by a humbling loss to Real Sociedad.

The Champions League winners are 11/10 to win and push for a top-four spot. But Betis have already beaten Barca and Sevilla this term. They’re 9/4 to pour more misery on Madrid’s campaign.

There could be plenty of action here. Quique Setien’s side will fancy their chances against Madrid’s unconvincing defence. Madrid and Over 2.5 Goals is a 2/1 shot.

Barcelona v Eibar

Eibar have drawn each of their last five matches, but it’s hard to see them getting anything at Camp Nou.

The champions have racked up 19 goals in their last five games against Sunday’s visitors. They’re clear 2/15 favourites and 19/20 to win with a -2 Handicap.

Lionel Messi has been in unbelievable form this season, even by his standards. He’s got seven goals in his last four league appearances. The star man got four goals in this fixture last season. He’s 23/20 to get two or more this time around.

Atletico Madrid v Levante

After drawing with Sevilla last time out, Atletico are now back at 8/1 to win the title. There’s no room for error now. But they’ll be glad to see Levante next up on the fixture list.

The two games between the sides last season finished 8-0 to Diego Simeone’s side on aggregate. They’re odds on at 1/4 to get three vital points, while even-money says they win to nil.

December’s Player of the Month Antoine Griezmann is 8/11 to net for a fifth game running in all competitions.
