Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG this year

Kylian Mbappe, according to reports, has finally communicated his decision on his future to the Paris Saint-Germain board, informing the club that he will be LEAVING on a free transfer this summer. Real Madrid are now said to be ‘totally confident’ he’ll be joining them.

After months of speculation regarding whether or not he’ll remain with the French giants or move clubs in the summer, we now know that the French superstar will be playing his football for another team from next season.

While the front-runners to secure Mbappe’s signature are unsurprisingly Real Madrid, but the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will also be trying to bring the 2018 World Cup winner to their respective clubs.

Kylian Mbappe to leave PSG

The transfer saga of Mbappe has dominated footballing news for the last few summers, but that all could be coming to an end before too long.

Fabrizio Romano, David Ornstein and other esteemed football journalists are reporting that Mbappe has told PSG’s ownership that he won’t be exercising the extension clause in his contract, and will therefore leave the club and become a free agent on July 1.

Whilst there was always a chance that Mbappe would be leaving PSG this summer, a portion of fans expected the club to offer him a deal that was simply too good to refuse, meaning he’d stay. However, unless there’s a U-turn on his part, that won’t be happening and the talented attacker will not be in search of a new club.

The quote below is taken directly from Romano’s X (formerly Twitter) account, where he broke the news of Mbappe’s imminent departure from PSG.

Kylian Mbappé has now informed PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi that he will LEAVE the club as free agent. The terms of the departure are yet to be fully agreed but he will LEAVE Paris in the summer — Kylian has yet to fulfil his commitments to the club.

The front-runners to secure Mbappe’s signature are Real Madrid, who have been linked heavily with the 25-year-old for several years now. It seems like Los Blancos are just a few months away from finally getting their man.

It’s been reported that Real Madrid are “totally confident” that Mbappe will join on a free transfer in the summer, where he’ll line up with the likes of Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and fellow countryman Eduardo Camavinga.

However, Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Mbappe in the last few months, so if he does end up rejecting Madrid’s inevitable offer, a move to the Premier League might be on the cards.

Despite those links, it’s unlikely that either Arsenal or Liverpool would financially be able to even afford the deal to sign Mbappe, despite the fact he’d be joining on a free transfer. The winger would likely demand wages of AT LEAST double what the highest-earner at either club is on, making a deal rather unlikely.
