La Liga Tips: Barcelona to get a tough away win in Sevilla?

Published:
Philippe Coutinho Barca

Barcelona are finding goals and wins hard to come by recently, only scoring and winning once in their last three games in all competitions.

They drew a blank midweek against Lyon in the Champions League, despite having 25 shots at goal. They’re away to Sevilla this weekend, and a win could make a statement and reinvigorate the Barca team.

Fifth-placed Getafe look to continue their push for a European place at home to troubled Rayo Vallecano. Atletico Madrid will be flying high after beating Juventus 2-0 in the Champions League, but it’s Villarreal up next for Diego Simeone’s men.

Real Madrid will want to forget their last league match after being beaten 2-1 at the Bernabeu by Girona. Can they make up for their performance with a win this time?

It’s one of the talking points in this weekend’s look ahead and La Liga tips…

Sevilla v Barcelona (3:15pm, Saturday)

Sevilla haven’t won in their last three league games, losing against Celta Vigo and Villarreal most recently. Their task doesn’t get any easier as league leaders Barca come to town this weekend.

Despite a relative lack of goals, Barcelona are still favourites to win away from home at 10/11. They also beat Sevilla 6-1 in the Copa del Rey last month.,

But Sevilla boss Pablo Machin masterminded a 2-0 win against Barca last time they met at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium. His side are 13/5 to win again this time round.

Philippe Coutinho hasn’t locked down a starting place at Barca, but scored twice in that 6-1 thrashing. We make him 12/5 to score anytime, or 12/1 to bag at least another two here.

Getafe v Rayo Vallecano (12:00pm, Saturday)

Jose Bordalas’ men have been impressive this campaign and have one of the most water-tight defences in the league, shipping only 21 goals.

Only Atletico Madrid have conceded fewer, and our traders have priced Getafe at 8/5 to win the game to Nil.

If you’re backing Getafe but think they will concede, we’ve got them at 18/5 for the win with Both Teams to Score.

Rayo Vallecano are second bottom and have really struggled to string wins together to build momentum. A shock win here could spring them out of the relegation zone if other results go their way. They’re 21/5 to notch an away win.

A point would help the struggling Vallecano too. A draw comes in at 12/5, and we’ve got a Rayo Vallecano/Draw Double Chance priced at 21/20.

Atletico Madrid v Villarreal (3:15pm, Sunday)

The Wanda Metropolitano was bouncing on Wednesday night after Atleti stunned Juventus. Diego Simeone’s men will be hoping for a repeat of that atmosphere when Villarreal visit.

Atleti are favourites to win at 4/7, and Villarreal are battling relegation but they’ve picked up a bit of form recently.

Their 3-0 win over Sevilla should give them confidence to press on and charge up the table, and they’re 11/2 to notch another win here.

Antoine Griezmann is priced at 21/20 to score anytime, with the on-loan Alvaro Morata 15/8 to net anytime too.

Carlos Bacca poses the biggest threat to the league’s best defence, and he’s 13/5 to score anytime for the away side.

Levante v Real Madrid (7:45pm, Sunday)

Santiago Solari will be hoping his Real Madrid side can make amends for last weekend’s defeat to Girona. They’re away at Levante who sit comfortably in mid-table.

Los Blancos are favourites for the win at 8/15, and they’ll be hoping to win big and show a statement of intent that they remain committed to chasing Barca down. They’re 13/5 to Win to Nil, and 11/2 to win with over 2.5 goals.

Levante are sat out at 21/5 to pick up a shock victory. They played out a goalless draw in their last home match, and another 0-0 is 25/1.

Karim Benzema is favourite to break the deadlock at 10/3, and he’s fancied to score anytime too at 5/6 with our traders.
