Harrogate Town v Salford City Betting Tips: Promotion six-pointer takes centre stage

After a mid-season slip, Salford City are on the rise again and will be hoping they can take three points off promotion rivals Harrogate Town.

Before their goalless draw at Barnet, they’d managed four wins on the bounce and currently occupy fourth spot in the league, two points behind third place.

Harrogate Town are in the hunt for promotion to the Football League too, and are only three points behind Salford. A win for Town could put them above The Ammies, and give their promotion hopes a major boost.

In a crucial promotion battle, we’ve got all the odds and preview ahead of tonight’s National League game…

Match Odds

Small margins will win this clash, and with the backing of the home support, Harrogate could flourish under the lights at Wetherby Road. In a very even contest, they come in as narrow favourites at 29/20.

Salford City boss Graham Alexander will be confident of his side’s re-invigoration for the run in, and they’ll look back on the 3-2 win earlier in the season for inspiration. They’re slight underdogs at 17/10 for three points.

If honours are even, both sides will still be in a strong position in terms of securing a play-off spot. The draw is priced at 23/10.

Talking Tactics

Harrogate boss Simon Weaver has no new injury concerns ahead of tonight’s big match, so he could stick with the side that rescued an unlikely point at Barrow last time out.

Jack Muldoon is the main source of goals for Town this season. He should be leading the Harrogate line again and could be crucial to their hopes of a win in this one.

Salford’s star striker Adam Rooney hasn’t been firing on all cylinders of late, and was benched for the stalemate against Barnet. He may be thrown back into the starting XI with the former Aberdeen man their best chance of a goal.

Ammies boss Alexander was without marauding left-back Ibou Touray in that match due to a call up from the Gambian national team. He’s back for this one, and could be slotted straight back in to the XI.

Goalscorer Odds

Muldoon is top scorer for Town this campaign, with 14 league goals to his name already. He bagged another one last time out, and he’s a 9/2 Harrogate favourite to break the deadlock. He’s also 9/5 anytime.

Callum Howe also got his name on the scoresheet at Barrow. He’s a long shot at 14/1 to open the scoring, but the defender is 11/2 to net another against Salford.

For Salford City, Rooney has been their focal point all season and has already bagged 16 goals in the league. He’s the outright favourite to score the opener at 4/1, but if you’re backing him to thrive under pressure, you can get 9/1 on him scoring two or more.

Rory Gaffney has also found the net 12 times, so he could find himself in the right place to get another. He’s 2/1 to grab a goal during the 90.
