World Cup 2022: Brazil vs Serbia odds, preview and tips

World Cup favourites and five-time champions Brazil wrap up the first round of group games with a tricky test against Serbia, the team they faced in Russia four years ago in addition to Switzerland.

Tite’s men cruised through qualifying and those looking at the Brazil winning odds will find them at 4/9 to start their campaign with victory against 11/2 shots Serbia, who finished top of their group ahead of Portugal.

Brazil are now 11/4 in the World Cup winner odds following Argentina’s shock defeat to Saudi Arabia, but can they deliver on the international stage once again?

You can read about all four nations in our World Cup Group G guide but start this preview by looking at the main talking points in our Brazil vs Serbia betting tips.

Brazil vs Serbia form

Tite has lost just two of his 48 competitive matches in charge of Brazil, one of which came in last year’s Copa America final against arch rivals Argentina.

They lost to Belgium in the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup, but were unbeaten in qualifying with 14 wins and three draws in their 17 games, so they head to Qatar in excellent form.

Brazil have also conceded just eight times in their previous 26 games, so on top of their exciting attacking line-up they also look well drilled in defence.

Serbia have injury concerns over their star strikers Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dusan Vlahovic, so a Brazil win to nil at 29/20 is not out of the question.

Brazil have also scored at least three goals in six of their last seven matches at an average of 3.7 a game, so the Serbs will have to be on their guard against the South Americans, who are 11/10 to win and over 2.5 goals.

The Serbs scored 18 goals in qualifying but conceded nine times, which means we could be in for an entertaining match if Mitrovic and Vlahovic are passed fit.

Both teams to score is available at 4/5, goals at both ends and at least three in the match is 6/5 and it’s 18/5 that Brazil and Serbia will find the net in the first half in the World Cup odds.

Brazil vs Serbia head to head

Goals from Paulinho and Thiago Silva sealed a 2-0 win against Serbia and a place in the knockout stage as group winners four years ago.

Brazil are 14/5 to win and under 2.5 match goals once more or it’s 5/4 on under 3.5, while another 2-0 victory is 6/1.

In the build-up to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the Selecao earned a 1-0 win against Serbia, who have never scored against Thursday’s opponents.

Brazil vs Serbia team news

Serbia coach Stojkovic remains hopeful on the fitness of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who missed Fulham’s last couple of Premier League games with a foot problem.

He said: “In the past four or five days, he has been working with the team. The good news is that he doesn’t feel the pain in the area where he had the injury.”

Stojkovic revealed that Juventus wing-back Filip Kostic was doubtful with a muscular problem.

Brazil have a full-fit squad and are likely to line up with a back four and two holding midfielders which are likely to be Casemiro and Lucas Paqueta.

Brazil vs Serbia goalscorer odds

Neymar, 9/1 in the World Cup top scorer odds, leads the way to draw first blood at 16/5 and is 11/10 to find the net any time as he has in four of his previous five appearances.

The goals have been drying up for Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal, but he is 9/2 and 13/8 in the two markets, while Richarlison is 4/1 and 6/4 in the World Cup betting.

The Spurs forward netted twice in a 3-0 victory over Ghana and once in a 5-1 win against Tunisia in Brazil’s final warm-up games.

Barcelona winger Raphinha bagged a brace against the Africans and 6/1 to break the deadlock or 9/4 to score, while Vinicius Jr is 13/2 and 12/5.

Mitrovic and Vlahovic are 6/1 and 8/1 to get the ball rolling or 23/10 and 14/5 to score, while attacking midfielder Dusan Tadic is well priced at 14/1 and 5/1.
