PDC Home Tour Betting Tips: Will Scott prove too hotty in Group 27?

Scott Waites Darts

There’s a familiar feel to tonight’s PDC Home Tour matches with four players who have already competed in the competition getting a second chance.

Ron Meulenkamp, Steve Beaton, Scott Waites and Ross Smith all finished as the runner-up in each of their respective groups the first time around.

Who’ll come out on top between them this evening?

Steve Beaton v Scott Waites (19:30)

Our traders are finding it tough to split these two former BDO world champions, although it’s Beaton who has been installed as the narrow 8/11 favourite against the even-money available for Waites.

Scotty 2 Hotty put up a strong showing in his first round of matches and suffered his only defeat against Dave Chisnall. Beaton, by contrast, lost 1-5 versus Matthew Edgar and 2-5 versus Carl Wilkinson.

Those results could suggest that the odds tonight should be reversed, with Waites priced up at 4/1 to claim 5-3 success and make it three wins from four in the PDC Home Tour.

Scott Waites v Ron Meulenkamp (20:30)

There’s little to choose between these two in terms of quality, and that’s reflected in our odds. Meulenkamp will start the match as the 4/5 favourite, with Waites also odds-on at 10/11.

Both players experienced similar anguish in their initial Home Tour matches too. While Waites missed out on the next round after a defeat to Chisnall, Meulenkamp was foiled by Chris Dobey.

Could that mean tonight’s match between the pair will work out as a decider in Group 27? It may end up that way, and with the pair so evenly-matched, we’re going 8/11 about Over 7.5 Legs in the contest.

Steve Beaton v Ross Smith (21:00)

On paper this looks like the weakest match in the group. The good news for Beaton and Smith, however, is that Darts matches aren’t played on paper. These days they’re done using a dartboard and Facetime.

Nevertheless, we can’t escape from the fact both players failed to win more than a single game in their first foray into the Home Tour. That likely means they’ll be targeting each other as a match to pick up points.

The Bronzed Adonis is 2/3 to come out on top against 11/10 for Smith. And after their exploits in the opening round of matches, we’re also going 2/3 about there being Under 3.5 Maximums in the match.
