Enhanced Treble: Rangers, Chelsea and Liverpool boosted
Published:
This week sees teams from north and south of the border gear up for League Cup action and while the competitions aren’t the most glamorous Ladbrokes is adding to the occasion with another timely Price Boost.
The bookmakers’ Enhanced Treble this week features wins for Chelsea, Liverpool and Rangers and with all three boosted to 7/2 from 3/1 there’s even more reason to get in on the League Cup action.
Read on to see why the Blues, the Reds and the Gers should be backed to beat Shrewsbury, Swansea and St Johnstone respectively.
St Johnstone travel to Rangers as the side from the higher tier but that won’t faze a Gers outfit that has been able to ignore off-field matters to secure some positive results of late.
Ally McCoist’s side have won four on the bounce, scoring 12 and conceding just once in that run, and face a St Johnstone side without a win in four.
Rangers have lost just one of their last 11 home ties in the League Cup, and having won six of the last seven meetings with Saints, are expected to extend their run here.
The Blues may have seen Robin van Persie snatch a late draw at the Old Trafford on Sunday but Jose Mourinho’s men will not be in a charitable mood when they face League Two Shrewsbury.
Judging by the Chelsea team that lined up in the last round against Bolton the likes of Oscar, Andre Schurrle, Luis Felipe and John Obi Mikel could all start, while Didier Drogba, Eden Hazard and Nemanja Matic could also make the trip.
Chelsea remain unbeaten this season and the gulf in class should simply prove too telling in this encounter.
For all the talk of a crisis at Anfield, Liverpool have still lost just one of their last four outings and that was at the hands of Real Madrid – arguably the best club side in the world right now.
Swansea, meanwhile, have won just once in seven outings and although they triumphed 3-1 over the Reds when winning this competition in 2013 , Brendan Rodgers men are unbeaten in four meetings since, taking those ties by an aggregate score of 11-5.
