Premier League odds: Major shift for Arsenal after Liverpool & Man City draw

Arsenal have seen a major drop in their outright Premier League odds after going to the top of the table this weekend following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Anfield.

After beating Brentford on Saturday, Arsenal went to the top of the Premier League table, and they’ll remain there until March 31 at the very least, the same date that they play Man City themselves. The Gunners, like Liverpool, are on 64 points after 28 games. However, after recent trashings of Sheffield United, Burnley and West Ham, Arsenal find themselves with a significantly healthier goal difference than their title rivals.

Arsenal went into the weekend with odds of 4/1 to win the Premier League, but they’ve been slashed to just 5/2 now that they find themselves top of the table, with just ten games left to be played between now and the end of the season.

Premier League odds

Man City, after dropping points in their game against Liverpool, are no longer odds-on to win the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s side are still the front-runners, at 11/10, but they went into the weekend at 5/6, with many expecting them to win the huge game at Anfield.

Liverpool were second-favourites to be crowned Premier League champions heading into the weekend, and they remain in that position coming out of it. The Reds have seen a marginal increase in their odds though, from 7/4, now to 2/1. Jurgen Klopp and co are eyeing up what could be a historic quad, two years after being just two games away from the incredible feat.

Arsenal have seen the biggest shift though, going from 4/1 to 5/2. However, despite being top of the league with things very much in their hands, the Gunners are third-favourites to be crowned Premier League champions for the first time under Mikel Arteta.

Will Arsenal win the Premier League?

The feeling around Arsenal is incredibly positive right now, with the Gunners playing some brilliant football and scoring goals for fun. Arsenal have scored 26 goals in their last six domestic league games, which kicked off with a rather impressive 3-1 victory over Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in February.

With Declan Rice arguably the signing of the season and Kai Havertz finding his form after initially struggling following his big-money move from Chelsea, Arteta’s side look as if they’ve got all the minerals to improve on their second-placed finish last season and actually win the Premier League this time out, but whether that ends up happening remains to be seen.

March 31 will end up being a rather big day for Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City, with the Etihad Stadium set to host a huge fixture between the Gunners and the Cittyzens. Liverpool play Brighton earlier in the day, and they’ll go back to the top of the table if they avoid defeat at Anfield in their next Premier League game.

Arsenal will need to dig up a win against Man City if they want to become favourites for the Premier League title, whilst Man City will feel confident considering the game is being played at home for them, despite losing 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

  • Man City – 11/10
  • Liverpool – 2/1
  • Arsenal – 5/2
  • Tottenham – 150/1
  • Aston Villa – 200/1
