Norwich City’s Sergi Canos moves nearer to completing Brentford switch

Brentford look set to complete the signing of highly-rated winger Sergi Canos later today.

The Bees are believed to have agreed a fee of £2.5m with Norwich, who paid the same amount for the 19-year-old last summer.

Canos was a part of the Barcelona youth academy between 2010 and 2013, before joining Liverpool.

A regular in the youth and reserve teams at Anfield, Canos made one senior appearance for the Reds at the end of last season.

But the bulk of that campaign was spent on loan at Griffin Park, where Canos excelled for the Bees in west London.

Notching seven goals and five assists, the Nules-born forward belied his years with a series of dazzling displays, and Canos quickly became a fan favourite as Brentford finished 10th.

Things haven’t worked out after moving to Norfolk however, and the teenager has made just three league appearances for the Canaries this term, but looks set to a return to first team action under Dean Smith.

But while Canos looks set to arrive, Brentford may yet to lose Scott Hogan, with Aston Villa 1/4 to sign the striker today.

It all makes for a very interesting atmosphere when the two sides meet tonight.

Brentford are 7/4 for a win which would move them level with Steve Bruce’s men in the table.
