West Ham land Arsenal youngster and make move for Hamburg star

West Ham United may have lost Scott Parker today but Sam Allardyce isn’t resting on his laurels.

Arsenal’s Henri Lansbury is set to join the Irons on a season long loan and while there was talk that Birmingham’s Liam Ridgewell was making the move south, it seems Allardyce has turned his attention to Germany.

Ivory Coast international Guy Demel was a target for Aston Villa but reports suggest the Hamburg defender is set for a switch to West Ham should he pass a medical with the club.

David Bentley may also be on his way to Upton Park as part of the deal for Scott Parker.

West Ham failed in a bid to take Tottenham’s promising youngster Jake Livermore on loan last week and having secured Lansbury, Bentley may arrive in a bid to bolster the attack.

Demel has made 26 appearances for his country and 131 appearances for Hamburg since moving there from Borussia Dortmund in 2005.

His experience at the back would be a huge benefit to a club who are chasing promotion and having made a solid start to the season, West Ham are the bookies favourites to lift the Championship title.

The Hammers are 9/4 to win the Championship this season and bounce straight back up to the Premier League, and with Sam Allardyce in charge, they have the managerial experience to do so.

Lansbury is an exciting addition in the middle of the park and Bentley’s delivery would bring plenty of chances to the West Ham strikers.

Demel’s experience would benefit the defence and should Allardyce confirm all three signings, West Ham’s price to win the Championship will shorten.
