Malmo v Chelsea betting tips and odds

Life is sweet for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea who went three points clear at the top of the Premier League table with a 3-0 win at Newcastle over the weekend and they look well placed to qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Jorginho scored two penalties in the Blues’ 4-0 victory over Malmo at Stamford Bridge when the teams met two weeks ago which means they are three points clear of third-placed Zenit St Petersburg, who travel to Juventus on Tuesday.

The west Londoners are 2/11 to pick up another three points against the Swedes, but we have looked at some of the other odds in our Malmo v Chelsea betting tips.

Match Odds

Malmo have lost all three group games without scoring so it’s no surprise to see Chelsea priced at 3/4 to win to nil and 4/6 to be ahead at half-time and full-time.

The Swedish champions and current leaders have also lost both halves in all their defeats, so we go 5/4 on Chelsea winning that way.

Malmo have lost 4-0 twice during the group stage and were beaten 3-0 at home by Juventus, so we go 8/1 on the first scoreline and 11/2 on the second, which was the outcome in Chelsea’s trip to Newcastle on Saturday.

Chelsea and Zenit were both leading inside 10 minutes against Jon Dahl Tomasson’s men so we go 19/5 on the visitors to score their opening goal during that spell or 13/5 to be in front after a quarter of an hour.

In the handicap markets, Chelsea are 27/20 and 3/1 respectively to win by at least two or three goals, while a clean sheet for the Blues is available at 8/13.

Jorginho can also be backed at 14/1 to score another double and Reece James is 40/1 in the same market having netted twice in Saturday’s win at Newcastle in our Malmo v Chelsea betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Tuchel went with a 3-4-2-1 for the win against Malmo, but is without Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic for the trip to Scandinavia, although Christian Pulisic has recovered from an ankle injury.

On Saturday, the German deployed the same formation with James and Ben Chilwell playing as wing-backs, and Callum Hudson-Odoi and Hakim Ziyech operating behind Kai Havertz.

Malmo also went with three at the back at Stamford Bridge where Antonio Colak and Veljko Birmancevic led the line, but the former was on the bench in Saturday’s 3-2 win at IK Sirius.

Birmancevic played on the left in a 4-2-3-1 in which Ghanaian striker Malik Abubakari spearheaded the attack.

Goalscorer Odds

Havertz leads the way in the first goalscorer market at 7/2 and the German is 19/20 to find the net any time as he did two weeks ago.

Jorginho is 21/10 to score any time or 13/2 to break the deadlock and the Italian midfielder can also be backed at 28/1 to score the game’s first goal in a 3-0 win as a scorecast as one of our Malmo v Chelsea betting tips.

Chelsea defenders have been in excellent goalscoring form this season, especially James and Chilwell who are 7/2 and 16/5 respectively to score or 12/1 and 10/1 to net the opening goal, while Andreas Christensen is 33/1 to net the opening goal again or 11/1 to beat Malmo’s goalkeeper.

Colak, Abubakari and Birmancevic are 4/1, 9/2 and 5/1 to get on the scoresheet from the Malmo contingent.
