One plucky punter turned a £20 Monday Night Football bet into a staggering £57,000, thanks to some late drama in the French Ligue 2.

We can reveal that one customer backed four teams across Europe to win both halves of their respective matches, with the bet looking to be heading for defeat but for a late first half West Ham penalty against Sheffield United.

After that 41st minute scare, the Hammers, Athletic Bilbao and Roda JC got their job done in their respective matches with relative ease, before it looked like the punter’s luck could be out again.

With Toulouse 1-0 up in their Ligue 2 match against AC Ajaccio heading into the final stages, Toulouse managed to sneak another late goal in the 86th minute, turning the £20 stake into a whopping £57,037.50.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “It really was a game of two halves for this punter who was left thinking his bet had lost not once, but twice until the late drama ensued, clinching him a cool £57k.”
