Brighton 5/4 to retain league lead with Orient win

After contrasting results and performances in the FA Cup fourth round, three of the leading title contenders in League One return to action and will be keen to remain in contention at the top of the table.

Brighton’s cup exploits has resulted in their lead at the top being trimmed to three points, but they are 5/4 to at worst maintain this gap with a win at Leyton Orient.

Gus Poyet’s team have already trounced Leyton Orient once this season in the league 5-0, but are likely to find things tougher on the road as they have not won any of their last four away games with Leyton Orient.

Orient are 21/10 to take the three points, but with both teams showing the impressiveness of their current form with upset victories in the FA Cup, the draw may prove the best bet at 12/5.

After pushing Manchester United all of the way, Southampton will be hopeful of producing a similar display which should be enough to see off Exeter.

Southampton are 10/11 to triumph away from home and have won four of the last five games with Exeter.

However, Exeter have only lost twice at home all season and are 3/1 in the League One betting odds to upset Saints’ promotion quest.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield are the only one of the trio who can look forward to a home game as they entertain a Carlisle team in what will be the fourth meeting between the pair this season.

All of these clashes have been at Carlisle though and two have taken place within the last month, with Carlisle winning the latest in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

It is 4/5 that Huddersfield beat Carlisle, with the visitors 7/2 to land the spoils.

A £25 stake on Southampton beating Exeter 3-1 would return £350. New customers can sign up here for a free £25 bet.
