Leeds v Watford betting tips and odds

Leeds have surprisingly failed to win any of their first six games which has left them sitting in the bottom three but that could all change this weekend when they start a favourable run of matches against Watford.

The Hornets have picked up seven points on their return to the Premier League but are 7/2 underdogs to win at Elland Road and evens to make an immediate return to the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa has a few injury problems on his plate so let’s check out some of the odds available in our Leeds v Watford betting tips.

Match Odds

United are 3/4 favourites to win on Saturday which is slightly surprising considering Patrick Bamford is one of several injury concerns for the hosts.

Brazilian winger Raphinha limped out of the defeat by West Ham and with Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch all in the treatment room, Bielsa will be glad to see the return of centre-back Pascal Struijk from suspension.

Neither side has managed to keep a clean sheet this season so both teams to score can be backed at 3/5 or it’s 5/4 on goals at both ends, over 2.5 goals in the match and either team to win.

Leeds’ cavalier approach to games meant they drew just five games last season, but they have already split the points three times in the current campaign and another share of the spoils is priced at 14/5, with goals thrown in boosting the odds to 7/2.

The Whites have got their noses in front reasonably early on in their last couple of games courtesy of Raphinha and the odds on them leading after a quarter of an hour as they were at Newcastle have been boosted from 7/2 to 9/2.

Watford have a star of their own in Ismaila Sarr who has scored three goals in his last two games to make it four for the season and we go 7/1 on the Senegal winger scoring in an away win as one of our Leeds v Watford betting tips

Talking Tactics

Leeds’ injury problems have been listed above and should Bamford fail to recover from an ankle problem, Rodrigo is likely to lead the line.

If Raphinha is unable to start because of hip trouble, Jack Harrison and Dan James are expected to be playing on the wings in a 4-1-4-1 formation.

Hornets boss Xisco Munoz is expected to stick with a 4-2-3-1 in which Josh King is the sole striker, with Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis coming off the wings either side of Tom Cleverley.

Goalscorer Odds

Leaving Bamford aside, Rodrigo is 9/2 to get the game’s opening goal or 17/10 to score any time, while Raphinha is 5/1 to break the deadlock for a third successive game or 15/8 simply to find the net.

James has yet to score for Leeds since his summer move from Manchester United and he is 13/2 and 23/10 in the first and anytime markets, the same prices as Harrison.

Sarr obviously looks an interesting contender to draw first blood at 7/1 or he is 5/2 to find the net, while Dennis is 9/1 and 10/3 in the equivalent markets as the last of our Leeds v Watford betting tips
