Nottm Forest v Bournemouth betting tips and odds

Bournemouth head to the City Ground as 23/20 favourites after they drew 2-2 against promotion rivals West Brom last Friday in Scott Parker’s first competitive match in charge.

The Cherries have been cut from 9/1 to 8/1 in the Championship title odds and will fancy their chances against a Nottingham Forest team whose build-up to the new season has been affected by Covid.

Forest are 5/2 to get a win on the board in front of their home fans but let’s look at some of the other markets and odds in our Nottm Forest v Bournemouth betting tips.

Match Odds

Forest, 13/2 for promotion this season, ran out of steam at the weekend when they conceded twice in the last 10 minutes to lose their opening game 2-1 at Coventry.

Manager Chris Hughton pointed the finger firmly at Covid’s door for the defeat after pre-season friendlies against Premier League teams Aston Villa and Burnley were postponed and self-isolating periods resulted in some squad members unable to train.

The Cherries handed debuts to Gavin Kilkenny, Jaidon Anthony and Jordan Zemura last week and all seven substitutes were academy graduates so a 2-2 draw was an excellent result against the second favourites to win the Championship.

Last season’s fixture ended in a goalless draw and another share of the spoils is priced at 11/5, while 0-0 is 7/1, but Bournemouth won the return 2-0 and they can be backed at 23/10 to win to nil.

Despite the number of young players in Friday’s match-day squad, the Cherries still have a strong spine and Junior Stanislas could return after pulling out of the game during the warm-up.

Bournemouth are 15/4 to win and both teams to score, but goals at both ends, over 2.5 goals and either team to win can be backed at 15/8, while a goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is available at 11/2.

Talking Tactics

Hughton went with a 4-2-3-1 at the Ricoh Arena where Lyle Taylor led the line in the absence of Lewis Grabban, while defender Joe Worrall was also missing.

Alex Mighten, Joe Lolley and the impressive Brennan Johnson played in advanced midfield roles, but most of their starting XI were missing for Wednesday’s 2-1 win against Bradford in the Carabao Cup so they should be fresh for the weekend.

Parker deployed a 4-3-3 against West Brom in which Dominic Solanke, David Brooks and Jaidon Anthony started in attack, with Philip Billing in central midfield and Emiliano Marcondes on the right.

Stanislas felt a tweak in his hamstring last Friday which forced him to withdraw so he could be fit to face Forest.

Goalscorer Odds

Solanke is the 4/1 favourite to break the deadlock and 7/4 to score, while Stanislas, who scored both goals in the win against Forest at the Vitality Stadium is 9/2 and 2/1 in the same markets or 14/1 to score at least twice.

Brooks is 6/1 to get the opening goal as he did in the 5-0 win against MK Dons in the League Cup and 13/5 to find the net, while Billing, also on target in that match, is 13/2 and 14/5 in the two options.

Johnson looked lively at Coventry and is 15/2 to break the deadlock and Taylor is 6/1 to draw first blood as he did on Sunday in our Nottm Forest v Bournemouth betting tips.
