Enner Valencia race takes a twist as Everton emerge from the shadows

Published:

Enner Valencia is seemingly set to leave West Ham one way or another on Deadline Day, and though Swansea City remain favourites to sign the forward, Everton have emerged as potential contenders.

The Toffees arguably relied far too heavily on Romelu Lukaku last season, with only the Belgian and Ross Barkley bagging over five Premier League goals.

Ronald Koeman has got the blue half of Merseyside off to their strongest start to a campaign for years, but the Dutchman isn’t resting on his laurels.

Everton are still in the hunt for Moussa Sissoko, and have already spent big to welcome Yannick Bolasie and Ashley Williams to Goodison Park.

Those deals came in the wake of John Stones’ huge £50m move to Manchester City, and Koeman still has some money in the kitty to play around with.

It’s believed Valencia would arrive initially on loan, with the option to join permanently in a £14m deal.

There’s still plenty of time left for moves to be done on this Deadline Day, and it appears Everton are going to be one of the busiest clubs tonight.

They’re well-fancied to make at least one deal this evening, with the bookies making Valencia 4/6 to become a Toffee before 11pm.
