‘Silent’ Chelsea boss odds-on to be next top-flight manager gone

Jose Mourinho looks like a man on the brink after his side were comprehensively beaten 3-1 by Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, leading Chelsea’s manager to refuse comment in his post-match interview.

The embattled Chelsea boss chose not to answer any questions posed to him by the BT Sport interviewer about the game in the immediate aftermath of a sixth Premier League defeat of the season already for the champions.

All the talk in the build up to the game had surrounded the growing pressure on Mourinho’s position as Chelsea boss, with the Portuguese tactician the 1/1 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave with Ladbrokes pre-match.

In light of this loss, Mourinho is now as short as 4/9 to be the next managerial top-flight casualuty with the bookmaker.

Refusal to properly account for the reasons behind this latest league loss, a third in four matches home and away, will only intensify the speculation about his tenure.

Despite many inside Stamford Bridge choosing to chant Mourinho’s name, even when defeat looked certain, eyes will now turn to Chelsea’s owner Roman Abramovich.

The Blues are now marooned in 15th place and despite the unparalleled success Mourinho has brought to the club, it remains to be seen how the Russian’s infamously short patience holds out.
