Southampton’s miserable end to the season shows no sign of abating having slumped to a 13th defeat in 17 games with a 2-0 loss at Liverpool on Saturday night.

Crystal Palace beat Saints 1-0 on the opening day and are priced at 5/2 to complete the double.

To help with your Southampton v Crystal Palace betting tips, we have looked at the facts and figures ahead of the game at St Mary’s.

Match Odds

Palace ended a three-match losing run with a 2-0 victory at Sheffield United on Saturday, capped by a wonderful solo goal from Eberechi Eze with a couple of minutes remaining.

The Eagles have an excellent record against teams below them in the table away from home this season, winning four of their five games, and they conceded in three of those victories, so we go 11/2 on the visitors to win and both teams to score.

Palace scored at least twice in all four of those away wins and are available at 2/1 to net two or more goals, although this fixture has finished 1-1 in the last two seasons.

A share of the spoils and both teams to score is priced at 13/4 and a third successive 1-1 draw is 11/2.

Saints may be on a poor run but they held Leicester to a 1-1 draw despite playing for 80 minutes with 10 men and they fought back from two goals down to beat Burnley 3-2 in their previous home game, so the hosts to win at 11/10 may be considered, as should both teams to score at 3/4 which has been the outcome in this fixture in the last five seasons.

Talking Tactics

Southampton may have been second best at Anfield but they forced Alisson into making six saves, the most in his 96 Premier League appearances, and it took a last-minute goal from Thiago to seal the points.

Top scorer Danny Ings has been cleared to return to training and could face Palace having missed the last three games with a hamstring problem.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson has key players Wilfried Zaha and Eze available and they will slot into a 4-4-2 formation.

Goalscorer Odds

Christian Benteke scored his fourth Premier League goal in 10 appearances at the weekend and is 11/2 to break the deadlock as he did at Bramall Lane or 11/5 to get on the scoresheet.

Zaha bagged the only goal in September and is available at 9/2 to draw first blood and 9/5 to net any time while winger Eze is 5/1 to bag his fifth of the season.

Che Adams spurned a glorious chance in a one-on-one with Alisson on Saturday and is 21/10 to atone for that miss while James Ward-Prowse, who has netted in this fixture in two of the last five seasons, is 13/2 to open the scoring.
