Hamilton can breathe easy after Ladbrokes Prem play-off triumph
Published:Congratulations are due to Hamilton Academical, who retained their Ladbrokes Premiership status following a Play-Off Final victory over Dundee United.
Accies have been goal shy but decent in defence throughout the campaign, and that was the narrative again here. Martin Canning’s men played out a lively but goalless draw at Tannadice, before triumphing 1-0 in the second leg at New Douglas Park.
And in edging out the Tangerines, the Lanarkshire club made a piece of club history in the process.
History made as we now retain our top flight status for a 4th successive season (hasn’t happened post WW2)

Fittingly, it was 20-year-old Accies youth product Greg Docherty who scored the only goal of the two-legged encounter, with a rasping strike past United keeper Cammy Bell in the 64th minute.
That capped off an impressive campaign for the youngster, who was also awarded the club’s Player of the Year award earlier this month.
There was delight for the squad who – despite a raft of injuries – made it past a talented United side thanks to two extremely solid displays.
