Clan Des Obeaux favourite for the 2020 Ladbrokes King George

Clan Des Obeaux is the 7/4 favourite to emulate the immortal Kauto Star and complete a hat-trick in the Ladbrokes King George on Boxing Day.

Paul Nicholls’ inmate warmed up for his Kempton assignment with a promising second to Bristol De Mai in the Betfair Chase last month and is taken to go one better back at his favourite hunting ground.

Competition comes in the form of stablemate and 15/8 shot Cyrname, who’ll need to reverse placings and then some after trailing home by 21l in the same race a year ago.

Santini, who finished runner-up in the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March and is a surprise supplementary entry here, is available as the 11/2 third-favourite.

A ten-strong field also includes Lostintranslation and Monalee at 8/1, Real Steel at 16/1 and the loveable Frodon under Bryony Frost at 20/1.

Ladbrokes spokesman Jon Lees said: “The welcome addition of Santini to the Ladbrokes King George field was not anticipated but the inclusion of a horse that was beaten just a neck in last season’s Gold Cup means hat-trick seeking Clan Des Obeaux may have a bit more than his own stablemate to worry about at Kempton on Boxing Day.”
