Dan Skelton blog: Trainer previews his rides for Lingfield & Fakenham
Published:Leading trainer and Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton has previewed his rides for Lingfield and Fakenham on Sunday
This is a very competitive race, as it should be for the prize money. Pembroke won well last time over two-and-a-half miles, although I do think two miles is his trip in soft ground. I think the conditions will be quite testing because they have had the sheets down for a while. Obviously it won’t be as soft as Aintree when he won last time but this will tell us where we stand with him. Overall, I am very happy with him.
Real Stone didn’t run so well last time but did win very authoritatively at Haydock the time before. He only has ten stone here which is good and we will see how we get on here. I can’t say he is just going to go on and win after a mediocre run last time. He does have some sort of chance though.
Nurse Susan won well last time at Cheltenham over two-and-a-half and the step up to three miles holds no fears. I am really looking forward to running her.
We have had this race in mind for him since his last run at Cheltenham when he ran well under a big weight in a handicap. He is in great form at home and I have no concerns about the trip at all. I am really hoping racing is on and looking forward to running him. We have no excuses coming into this.
We can’t find the perfect chase for him and he is still a novice over hurdles so we thought we would take this in. He has lots of weight which isn’t a concern; he is a big strong horse with plenty of experience. I would like to think he will go well.
She won last time at the track and has a good chance of following that up. The blinkers have made a difference to her for sure.
Clararose takes a big step up in trip up to three miles but I do think she is a stayer and this will tell us if the trip is correct or not.
He won an English point-to-point and looks a nice horse on homework. The track shouldn’t be a problem as he travels well on what we’ve seen.
