Ladrokes offer golden 100/1 opportunities for London 2012
Published:The greatest show on earth is nearly upon us as the Olympics comes to London in just a 100 days. Team GB will be gunning to win as many medals at possible and Ladbrokes have devised a number of 100/1 specials to get athletics and sports fans in the mood for this summer’s events.
However, it is not just Team GB that we are focussing on.
Michael Phelps broke a 36-year record when he claimed eight gold medals in Beijing in 2008, and there are odds of 100/1 if any Olympian from any country, and any event matches his record, or does the unthinkable and achieves nine golds.
The patriotic punt will become a regularity throughout the summer months and with golden girl Jessica Ennis favoured to add Olympic champion to her European and World titles, there’s a 100/1 chance she romps home and wins by exactly 100 points in the heptathlon.
Another Brit looking primed for success at London 2012 is Scottish tennis player and world number four Andy Murray. Murray is at 100/1 to claim both his maiden Wimbledon title and the Olympic gold without dropping a set in what could be a sensational year for the 24-year old.
Britain have had healthy success in the pool of late and a treble of wins with Rebecca Adlington in the 400m and 800m freestyle, Fran Halsall in the 50m and 100m freestyle and Hannah Miley in the 400m individual medley, all taking gold also draws odds of 100/1.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Records are there to be broken, and this summer we hope Team GB prove us wrong and obliterate them. The pressure on our athletes is immense but patriotic punters all over Great Britain are getting stuck in and we’re anticipating Olympic payouts left, right and centre.”
If any British athletics competitor can break any of the aforementioned world records, that too would produce odds of 100/1.
