League One and Two: What’s left to play for ahead of final weekend?

By 5pm on Saturday, it’ll all be decided. From the tussle to go up as League One champions to a frenzied battle to avoid dropping out of League Two, we’re set for a dramatic final day of EFL action.
Ahead of judgement day this weekend, there are a few midweek fixtures scattered across the leagues tonight. So it’s the perfect time to inspect the state of play…
League One:
The Title: While the automatic promotion spots are sewn up, the top two are still vying to go up as champions.
Wigan Athletic in top spot need just a point to clinch the title at Doncaster Rovers. However, second-placed Blackburn Rovers will be ready to pounce on any slip-up, with the Ewood Park club eyeing up a fifth straight home win against Oxford United.
Play-offs: Three sides are fighting for the last two play-off places. Charlton Athletic and Scunthorpe United currently hold the advantage. However, surprise package Plymouth Argyle could sneak into the top six if they win at lowly Gillingham.
Relegation: There are five sides technically in danger of a final-day relegation, though 18th-placed Walsall and AFC Wimbledon in 19th have probably done enough to survive.
With Northampton Town’s relegation to League Two all-but-confirmed, it’s likely to be one of Oldham Athletic and Rochdale joining them. The Latics have the easier fixture, as they head to Sixfields. As for Dale, they face Charlton.
League Two:
Play-offs: The three automatic spots – and their order – are all decided. So it’s all about who’s joining those sides in the third tier via the play-offs.
In the push for a top-seven spot, Mansfield Town need to beat Crawley Town and hope Lincoln City or Coventry City suffer defeat. If that happens, the Stags – many people’s tip for the title in pre-season – will keep their promotion dream alive.
Relegation: Chesterfield are already down, and a few weeks back Barnet looked all-but-certain to be joining the Spireites in Non-League.
However, 10 points in four games have given the Bees hope ahead of the final day. To stay up, they’ll need to beat Chesterfield in North London and hope Morecambe lose at the Ricoh Arena. It promises to be a nail-biting afternoon…
