Latest news coming out of Liverpool suggests that the club have been handed a major blow in the Premier League title race with Man City and Arsenal.

The news pertains to Alisson Becker, who it's now been revealed won't play after the November international break after suffering another hamstring injury this week.

The Brazilian goalkeeper was taken off in Liverpool's away win against Crystal Palace on October 5, and now it's emerged that he'll miss big games against Chelsea and Arsenal as a result.

Alisson Becker injury update

Alisson missed Liverpool's 3-0 win over Bournemouth on September 21 with a hamstring issue, but the injury didn't keep him out for long and he was back in goal for the side's 2-1 win over Wolves seven days later.

However, Alisson seemed to aggravate the issue in Liverpool's victory over Crystal Palace at the weekend, where he had to be withdrawn in the second half.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Brazilian number one won't play until after the November international break, with his hamstring issue being far more serious than the one he was dealing with in September.

Liverpool GK Alisson set to miss around six weeks after new tests results confirmed a hamstring injury, as expected. Alisson will not return until after the next international break in mid-November, big blow for the Reds.

Which games will Alisson miss through injury?

The injury to Alisson couldn't have come at a worse time for Liverpool, with Arne Slot and co set to embark on a rather tricky run of fixtures, pretty much until the end of the year.

If Alisson only misses the games between now and the end of the next international break, Liverpool will be without their number one for the following fixtures.

  • Liverpool v Chelsea - October 20 - Premier League
  • RB Leipzig v Liverpool - October 23 - Champions League
  • Arsenal v Liverpool - October 27 - Premier League
  • Brighton v Liverpool - October 30 - Carabao Cup
  • Liverpool v Brighton - November 2 - Premier League
  • Liverpool v Bayer Leverkusen - November 5 - Champions League
  • Liverpool v Aston Villa - November 9 - Premier League

As the fixture list above shows, Alisson is expected to miss a minimum of seven games through injury, including a huge game at the top of the table between the Reds and Arsenal on October 27.

Slot will be hoping that Alisson is back after the next international break though, as between November 27 and December 21, Liverpool face the likes of Man City and Tottenham in the Premier League, as well as Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The good news for Liverpool is they've already given themselves a good platform in the opening few games of the season, with Slot having guided his team to the top of the league heading into the October international break.

Liverpool are firmly in the running to win the Premier League for the second time come May 2025, but the injury to Alisson is definitely a big blow to their prospects for the remainder of the year.

The news of Alisson's injury comes the same day as Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool's former manager, was announced as Red Bull's new 'Head of Global Soccer', his first role since leaving the Reds in May of this year.
