Money back on non runners at the Cheltenham Festival
Published:Many punters will be reluctant to place their Cheltenham bets over two months in advance because of the fear of their horses failing to make their anticipated races.
However, Ladbrokes are running a promotion on the four biggest races which will enable punters to get their stakes back if their chosen horse does not run.
The four races included are the Champion Hurdle, Queen Mother Champion Chase, Ladbrokes World Hurdle and the Cheltenham Gold Cup and it is fans of Hurricane Fly, Captain Chris and Grands Crus who may have the most to gain from the offer.
Hurricane Fly is currently the 2/1 favourite to defend his Champion Hurdle title, but is yet to run this season as trainer Willie Mullins struggles to get him in top shape at home.
Some punters are fearful that Hurricane Fly may end up missing the whole season, but the offer covers stakes in case he does make it to Cheltenham.
The problem with Captain Chris is not whether he will run, but in which race.
He is 12/1 in the Cheltenham Gold Cup betting at present, but is almost equally likely to compete in the Ryanair Chase instead over a shorter distance.
A similar situation relates to Grands Crus, who may attempt the Cheltenham Gold Cup or the RSA Chase.
