Premier League Darts Betting Tips: Can Aspinall go top v Durrant?

Published:

The Premier Leagueroadshow makes its first international stop-off this Thursday as our band ofmerry arrowsmiths cross the Irish Sea and head to Dublin.

Debutant Glen Durrant currently leads the way at the top of the table but remains a 20/1 shot to win the competition outright. He’ll face stiff competition tonight from the in-form Nathan Aspinall.

That’s the game of the night in a line-up which also includes Gerwyn Price v Peter Wright and Michael van Gerwen against Irish challenger Willie O’Connor.

Glen Durrant v NathanAspinall

These two have taken to the Premier League like a pair of ducks to water. But our traders are finding it tough to decide who’ll sink or swim tonight, with Durrant at 8/5 against 5/4 for Aspinall.

The Asp stunned van Gerwen last week with a 101.2 average ina 7-5 win but he has lost in his two previous matches against Duzza, includingin the Grand Slam last November.

Both players have been clocking similar stats in the league thus far, though, which could lend itself to the Draw at 3/1. Meanwhile, we go even-money about Over 11.5 Legs in the match.

Rob Cross v GaryAnderson

The omens are not looking good for Cross in this one. Notonly has Voltage been well below-par in the Premier League so far, he also hasan unenviable W1 L8 record against Anderson too.

No surprise, then, that our trading floor have the Flying Scotsman at 6/5 for a second win of the campaign. After Cross’s slow start last week, Ando is also 10/11 in the Race to 3 Legs market.

Last season’s Premier League finalist shouldn’t be written off completely, though. He’s 13/8 to take the spoils, and in a match between two strong finishers, it’s 5/6 for a checkout over 117.5+.

Daryl Gurney vMichael Smith

Michael Smith is making up for lost time in the PremierLeague. After a sluggish start on the opening night, Bully Boy has taken threepoints from four and racked up back-to-back 100+ averages.

That couldn’t be in greater contrast to Gurney, who has the division’s weakest average and a woeful checkout percentage of just 30%. We go 11/10 about a Smith win against 7/4 for the Ulsterman.

And with the stats so comprehensively in the Englishman’s favour, it’s possible to see him landing the most 180s at 4/6 or sweeping the board as King of the Oche at 3/1.

Willie O’Connor vMichael van Gerwen

It took a while for MVG to find his range with his new setof darts. But the 23rd nine-darter of his career at the Players Championshiplast weekend suggests he’s now firmly got his eye in.

That could spell bad news for O’Connor. This week’s challengeris capable of some impressive arrows at times, but will need to be on it fromthe off against the rejuvenated Dutchman.

Our traders doubt whether that’s possible, with MVG chalked up at 1/4 against 13/2 for the Irishman. O’Connor is a prolific 180 hitter, though, and could land the most maximums at 5/2.

Gerwyn Price v Peter Wright

If MVG is in good form then Wright is on a different level. The world champion demolished Cross last week and recorded a 120 average in aPlayers Championship event over the weekend.

He’s 6/5 to claim the points in this one, although that might not be so easy against draw specialist Price. The Iceman has forced a stalemate in all three matches so far and is 3/1 to do so again here.

If the match does end level, Wright should at least fancy his chances of edging the 180 battle. He’s hit 13 to Price’s eight so far and is 10/11 to come out on top in that market this evening.
