Premier League preview: Can Man United continue Champions League charge?
Published:Another weekend arrives and the Premier League run in continues apace.
The battle for Europe is heating up with Sheffield United and Wolves well in the mix, while it’s nail-biting at the bottom with a six-way scrap to avoid relegation.
With nine matches taking place across Saturday and Sunday, we’ve picked the best of the bunch with lots still to play for.
Manchester United v Bournemouth (Saturday 15:00)
Man United are on the charge and are 4/9 to finish in the top four. They’re facing a Bournemouth side in free-fall and are in desperate need of three points to avoid the drop.
But with Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and co, the Red Devils are a slim 2/11 for victory, while Eddie Howe’s men are 18/1 to win.
Anthony Martial is 5/2 to break the deadlock, while Fernandes is 3/2 anytime. The Cherries’ Josh King is 5/1 anytime to score against his former side.
Wolves v Arsenal (Saturday 17:30)
Arsenal are coming off the back of three straight wins in all competitions and are 9/4 to make it four. But they’re facing a Wolves side they haven’t beaten since the home side returned to the Premier League in 2018.
Nuno Espirito Santos’ side are the 5/4 favourites to continue their impressive season and stay in the Champions League race.
Wolves won 3-1 in this fixture last season. A repeat of this result is 18/1, while Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to score in an away win is 14/5.
Liverpool v Aston Villa (Sunday 16:30)
Liverpool were mauled by Man City on Thursday night, but with Jurgen Klopp expected be around for a while yet, he’ll want a strong response from the champions as he builds a team to retain the title.
The home side are 1/3 on to win, while Villa, who arguably need the win more, are chalked up at 8/1 for victory.
Liverpool shipped four goals away at the Etihad this week, with both teams to score here at 3/4. Mo Salah is well in the running for the Golden Boot, he’s 7/2 to score 2 or more.
Best of the rest
Leicester City are looking over their shoulder in their bid for a top-four spot. They’re 2/3 to beat Crystal Palace, while the Eagles are 9/2 for victory.
Chelsea are 4/9 to bounce back from defeat against West Ham and beat Watford on Saturday night. But the Hornets, who’ve already beaten Liverpool this season, are 6/1 for victory.
Fancy Manchester City to beat Southampton? It’s a short 1/3 with our traders.
