Reading vs Notts Forest – promotion rivals vying for first wins
Published:The Madejski Stadium hosts a clash of two genuine Championship promotion contenders on Saturday, with Reading taking on Nottingham Forest.
Tipped at 9/2 to win promotion this season, home advantage means that Reading are marginal 5/4 favourites to claim three points.
Only once in the last seven league meetings between the sides has there been more than one goal.
Both sides have two 1-0 wins apiece in this sequence, and another 1-0 victory for Reading this time around is priced at 7/1.
Among the pre-season favourites to win the Championship title at 8/1, much has been expected of Forest for this campaign.
Billy Davies’ side have yet to win this term, however, and their price of 9/4 to win on Saturday suggests that their wait for three points could be prolonged.
Cardiff vs Doncaster
Cardiff won the corresponding fixture against Doncaster 2-1 last season, and the Bluebirds are a convincing 4/5 to mark Craig Bellamy’s homecoming with victory against the Yorkshire side.
Bellamy, who has joined on loan from Manchester City, is the red hot 11/4 favourite to score the first goal, while Doncaster are 7/2 to spoil the striker’s party by claiming a shock win.
Leeds vs Millwall
Elland Road is unlikely to provide football purists with much joy on Saturday, but the clash between Leeds and Millwall certainly promises to be hard-fought.
Both sides won promotion from League One last season, and Leeds begin the match as 5/4 favourites to secure their first win of this campaign.
Millwall, however, are currently top of the table and they are a very tempting 9/4 to make it three wins from their first three Championship fixtures.
Millwall won 2-0 on their last visit to Leeds, and they are priced at 11/1 to do the same on Saturday. See the full Leeds vs Millwall Match Betting Odds market.
