So You Think and Workforce set to do battle in the Coral-Eclipse
Published:We’re (un)officially labelling it the ‘Showdown at Sandown’ and the racing community is preparing to get very excited about the prospect of So You Think and Workforce clashing in the Coral-Eclipse.
Ballydoyle today confirmed via twitter that they are looking at the Coral-Eclipse as So You Think’s next start after a disappointing defeat at Royal Ascot.
The hype surrounding So You Think and his run in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot last week was huge and there was a massive sense of disappointment both on and off the course when Rewilding got up to beat the Kiwi sprinter.
While it was a fantastic ride from Frankie Dettori on Rewilding, the manner of So You Think’s defeat – the two horses were six lengths clear of Sri Putra in third – suggests that it was just a blip in the so-far sparkling career of the five-year-old.
The Coral-Eclipse will be run at Sandown on July 2 and the bookmakers can’t split So You Think and Workforce in the betting with both horses available at 6/4 to win.
Workforce’s victory in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown last month over the same trip as the Coral-Eclipse suggests connections are targeting a return to Sandown in preparation for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in October.
Both So You Think and Workforce are entered for the French Classic and reigning champion Workforce will take all the beating according to the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe betting as he currently shares the favouritism with Pour Moi at 9/2.
So You Think is a 6/1 chance for the Prix de l’Arc but a win at Sandown in a fortnights time would see those odds reverse completely.
He may have been beaten at Ascot, but there is plenty more still to come from the horse the Aussies call the best ever, and So You Think’s clash with Workforce could be yet another epic race in a wonderful season.
