Bowls betting odds at Ladbrokes

Despite roots dating back to Ancient Greece, the modern day version of bowls has evolved into something quintessentially British over the last couple of centuries – although Henry VII successfully managed to impose a ban on it, meaning it could only be played by common people on Christmas.

Thankfully the law was repealed in the mid-1800s and today, there are plenty of bowling greens and more than 2,000 clubs in England alone. Also known as lawn bowls, each match is played within a rink and started by one competitor rolling the small ball – known as a ‘jack’. The jack has to go at least 23 metres and players take turns in rolling their bowls as close to it as possible. Points are awarded according to the bowls closest to the jack and the first player to score 21 points wins the game – except in pairs, triples and fours competitions, where it’s the team with the most amassed points that wins the game.

Bowls may not have the biggest media presence in the world of sports, but it features some epic competitions throughout the season – and at Ladbrokes, you can get the latest odds on every major bowls tournament.

Bet on the Bowl England Finals 2021

Since the nineteenth century, the game of bowls has spread across the globe, which means plenty of national championships to follow – from Australian and New Zealand to South Africa and, of course, the national championships in the Home Nations. The England National Finals 2021 are set to take place at the Victoria Park Stadium in Royal Leamington Spa between late August and early September. With 18 days of nonstop bowls finals, there’s plenty to look forward to, including the Champion of a Champions Day and three Super Sunday events.

Find great bowls odds for the Commonwealth Games

Although the Commonwealth Games 2022 will take place in Birmingham, the lawn bowls event will be happening 30 miles down the road, as Victoria Park will once again be the host. Seen as one of the highlights of the bowls calendar, the games will include both lawn bowls and para lawn bowls events. Australia and South Africa have dominated the Commonwealth Games in recent years, but with it being on British soil again, both England and Scotland will fancy their chances. Whoever you’re backing during the tournament, you’ll be able to get the latest betting odds for lawn bowls here at Ladbrokes.
