Bellamy on target for Bluebirds but QPR continue relentless form

| 04.10.2010

A last minute winner from Heidar Helguson means Queens Park Rangers remain six points clear at the top of the Championship.

Crystal Palace fought bravely against their London rivals but mistakes from Edgar Davids and Julian Speroni proved costly in a tremendous finish at Selhurst Park.

Palace thought they had rescued a point when Kieron Cadogan levelled in the 89th minute, but Helgusson beat Palace keeper Speroni to a cross in the third minute of added time as QPR continue their impressive start.

It leaves QPR the 5/4 favourites to win the Championship with current closest challengers Cardiff City second favourites at 4/1.

The return of Craig Bellamy was significant as he scored his second league goal in his third start for Cardiff as they won 2-1 away at Barnsley.

Bellamy’s ability is proven at the highest level and his quality will be crucial as Cardiff look to challenege for promotion.

QPR’s Jamie Mackie currently has eight goals for the season and is 5/1 to be the Championship’s top scorer, but Bellamy is 9/1 to make up the six-goal deficit and top the scoring charts at the end of the season.

Norwich moved up to third in the Championship after victory against Bristol City and the defeat leaves Bristol bottom of the Championship on six points with Palace and Leicester City above them on eight points.

Sven-Goran Eriksson was in the stands to watch his new club beat Scunthorpe 3-1 and Leicester fans will be hopeful Eriksson can continue the winning form when the Championship returns from the International break.

Norwich are 18/1 to win the Championship. See the full Championship football betting odds market here.
