Crystal Palace vs Birmingham: bet on a close game at Selhurst Park

Published:

Monday night’s Championship game sees two teams struggling for consistency come head-to-head in south London.

Crystal Palace are one point ahead of Birmingham in the Championship mid-table, but a win for either side tonight would see them edge to within touching distance of Leeds United in the final play-off spot.

Everything is pointing to this being an extremely tight game though…

Match odds

Crystal Palace head into this game on the back of four straight draws at Selhurst Park.

Taking four points from as many games has hardly rocketed them up the table but it has helped extend their unbeaten home record to eight games in all competitions.

Palace are currently 12/5 make it five home draws in a row which looks like an extremely tempting punt.

However, Birmingham have struggled on the road in recent weeks and have lost four of their previous five away from St Andrew’s, drawing the other.

Palace can be backed at 8/5 to build on their 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest nine days ago with an another victory.

Goal markets

Goals have been hard to come by for Palace in the past few months, with Dougie Freedman’s men hitting just five goals in their previous ten Championship games.

Goals have also been sparse in games between these sides, with just one of the previous eight encounters between them yielding more than two goals.

And, with Palace having the third worst home attack in the league and the Blues having the third worst away defence, this has all the hallmarks of a scrappy and tense affair.

Under 2.5 goals is well worth consideration at 8/1.
