Watford v Birmingham: Slow-starters set for score draw

Published:

Watford host Birmingham City at Vicarage Road, with little evidence present to choose between the two sides.

Both teams are capable of scoring goals and a score draw looks favourable at the price of 3/1.

The four games the two clubs have been involved in so far in the league this season have seen 13 goals, with neither side yet to hit second gear.

Zola’s Watford kicked off brightly with two late goals securing a 3-2 win away to Crystal Palace, but couldn’t utilise home advantage against Ipswich losing 1-0.

Lee Clark’s team have got off to a slower start this campaign, taking just a point from their opening two games in the division against Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday.

Therefore a share of the spoils might suit both sides, and the draw can be found at 11/5.

New hornets boss Gianfranco Zola is looking to implement an attacking philosophy in Hertfordshire whilst Lee Clark is trying to mastermind Birmingham’s return to the Premier League.

The two clubs clashed during the 2008/09 and 2011/12 Championship seasons, with the Midlands side winning three and drawing one of the four encounters.

This time around Birmingham are priced at 17/10 to pull off an away victory, whilst the Watford are at 13/8 to win on home soil.

Birmingham’s last trip to Vicarage Road ended in a 2-2 stalemate, and a repeat result this term can be backed at 14/1.

A 1-1 scoreline may be more likely however, and that is priced at 11/2.

With the scoresheet set to be busy, the first goalscorer market may see some action with Blues strikers Nikola Žigić and Marlon King at 11/2 to break the deadlock.

Whilst Zola’s new Watford signings Alexandre Geijo, Steve Leo Beleck and Selhurst Park hero Matej Vydra are all 6/1 to find the back of the net first.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
