Championship Accumulator: Posh step up set to continue

Published:

As a number of Championship fixtures complement this week’s Champions League action, we look to English football’s second tier to turn a profit.

And Peterborough are the first of our four selections that we hope will bring a payout to the tune of 15/1.

Posh are 11/8 to beat Charlton at London Road, after a superb 3-2 win away to Blackburn last time out meant they have avoided defeat in five of their last seven matches.

In the visiting Addicks, they meet a team that became the first in seven to lose to Burnley most recently, and one which has failed to score in three of their last four outings.

Charlton lost all three of those games in which they failed to register, and they have won just once in their past seven matches too.

Next up we select Nottingham Forest, as 5/6 hopes to overcome Ipswich at the City Ground.

Forest are unbeaten in the four games they have played since Billy Davies’ return to the club, winning three, and scoring 10 times in those fixtures.

The Tricky Trees have also won five of the last six encounters between this pair, and they can further improve that record against a side that has scored only 12 goals on the road this term.

We then turn to Brighton to bring up the third leg of our fourfold, as Gus Poyet’s men travel to Bristol City attributed a 5/4 chance of success.

City have improved somewhat lately, yet have still only won one of their past four games, and the division’s bottom club face an uphill task hosting the side with the least amount of away defeats in the Championship this term.

The Seagulls have won four of their past five games also, and are encouraging calls in this game considering they have lost only twice in 18 outings opposing lower half opposition this season.

And Watford are our final picks, who we take to continue their blistering form when welcoming Sheffield Wednesday to Vicarage Road.

The 4/6 Hornets are within touching distance of the automatic promotion places, after winning seven of their past 10 matches and losing only once in that time.

They have recorded emphatic 4-1 wins over Wednesday on two of the past three occasions the sides have met, including earlier this season, and can further enhance their lead at the top of the Championship goal chart in this match.

With just 16 goals scored in the process, the 12 losses Wednesday have suffered in 18 games against top-half clubs this season makes for more positive reading for Watford backers.

Wins for Peterborough, Nottingham Forest, Brighton and Watford would reward backers of this accumulator at 15.33/1.
