Atlético ace Falcao to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea

If reports in Germany are proven to be accurate then Chelsea have been quietly organising a renewed assault on the Premier League title in recent weeks.

Other than semi-final showings in the FA Cup and Europa League, plus the battle for a top four finish, Chelsea fans have had little to cheer so far this season.

The form of Demba Ba has been a highlight but concerns remain over Fernando Torres, who has continued to cut a forlorn figure in the Stamford Bridge attack.

However, if respected title German Bild is to be believed, then reinforcements have already been arranged with Atletico Madrid’s Colombian goal machine Radamel Falcao and outgoing Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho swapping the Spanish capital for west London.

Earlier this week, Ladbrokes made Manchester United 3/1 favourites to land the attacker  – known in Spain as El Tigre for his abilty to prowl the final third of the pitch unoticed before striking – but the market has now shifted dramatically.

Such is the credibility of Bild’s reputation – they were the first to break Mario Gotze’s impending transfer to Bayern Munich – that United, along with Real Madrid, have drifted to 8/1 to land the hit man.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have gone from 9/2 third-favourites to 2/9 market leaders to secure the South American’s services.

According to Bild, Chelsea  have promised Mourinho the €60 million-rated forward in order to convince the Special One to return on a four-year deal and wrestle the Premier League trophy from its current Manchester stranglehold.

These days no transfer speculation is complete without a mention for the big-spending blue half of Manchester, and with Edin Dzeko currently the Citizens’ top scorer – despite his place in the Etihad pecking order – Roberto Mancini is likely to be in the market for fire power.

However, the betting indicates that Mancini will be denied a marquee striker for the second summer in succession, with City now priced as 16/1 outsiders.

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing.
