Price Boost: Southampton tipped alongside Championship duo

Published:

Southampton may have lost unexpectedly to West Brom at the weekend but a round of midweek fixtures affords them an immediate chance to bounce back.

Saints welcome Crystal Palace to St Mary’s and while Alan Pardew’s men enjoyed a 3-2 FA Cup win over the south coast side last time the sides met the stats suggest a different outcome altogether this time round.

For this reason, Ladbrokes has boosted Ronald Koeman’s side, along with Middlesbrough and Watford from 3/1 to 4/1 to pick up three points.

Read on to see why the Saints, Smoggies and Hornets could leave you with a smile on your face come hump day this week.

Southampton to beat Crystal Palace

As mentioned above Palace ran out winners in the most recent clash between these two but with Southampton winning all of the previous five meetings this game looks likely to go only one way.

Both sides have lost two of their last three meetings, but with Saints winning four of the last six meetings to nil this looks like the perfect opportunity for Koeman’s men to return to winning ways.

Middlesbrough to beat Millwall

Boro’s automatic promotion push has been knocked a little of late, with the Riverside outfit winning just one of their last five games.

Defeat to Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend leaves Boro just one point above third-placed Norwich but relegation-threatened Millwall should be easier to overcome.

Millwall boss Ian Holloway is running out of survival lifelines and after losing 5-1 to Boro earlier this season the great escape is unlikely to start here.

Watford to beat Fulham

The Hornets kept their own promotion hopes alive, coming from 2-0 down to beat Leeds on Saturday and with Fulham the next visitors to Vicarage Road the north Londoners will be confident of gaining momentum.

The Cottagers surprised with a 2-0 win over league leaders Derby at the weekend but after going down 5-0 to Watford earlier in the campaign that confidence boost is set to prove short lived.
